normal day driving back from work. on the emirates plane roundabout near parktowers, all billboards have tolet signs. funny. all of them together? the designer in me registered it but the human being in me, tired after a long day, fleetingly glanced up and went home to a relaxing cup of tea.
k calls. "all the billboards are gone".
haan i noticed i exclaim, now resuscitated to my usual alive self. wonder what is happening? "it looks so amazing" he says. well, i answer, tomorrow there will be new ones. silence. "sweetie. they dont exist. as in the structures are gone."
by now im jumping up and down hollering "what what??? what??"
houston, we finally have a skyline and man, she looks good.

Something even creepier - I didn't encounter a single traffic jam in my 25 minute commute from university to my place. Quite like an out-of-body experience.

Why is it an all or nothing deal with Karachi.
Removing billboards, ok makes sense.. for some of them...why all ??
What ever happened to landscaping and putting up billboards so they not only carry a message but look aesthetically pleasing as well. Like the coke billboard at Metropole or the infamous zara sheikh/mobilink one at gora qabiristan

guys..i just hope all rumours of an underpass here are totally false..because as it is karachi is dealing with a serious moles attack. EVERYTHING has been dug up in search of better traffic!!!
